Research programme Child Development

This research group engages in original empirical and theoretical research with the aim of contributing to the development of theories on, and models of, the processes that underlie child development, child rearing, childhood education and childhood development. Identifying pathways of adaptation or maladaptation over time allows targeted support and intervention.

The main research questions pertain to:

  1. Programmes of family support: theory, practice and effectiveness;
  2. Child rearing in non-traditional families such as families after divorce, families with same sex parent: processes and effects on children; foster families;
  3. Quality of professional day care.
