UvA’s Social Sciences best in the Netherlands

The discipline of Social Sciences at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) is the best in the Netherlands, according to the THE World University Ranking.

The UvA's Social Sciences has secured 34th place in the ranking per discipline. As an entire institution, the UvA has retained the ranking it was awarded last year: 83th. 
In the overall ranking, twelve Dutch universities are in the top 200, and of these no fewer than eight are among the top 100. The ranking is traditionally dominated by US and UK universities. The California Institute of Technology, Harvard University and the University of Oxford are the top three, respectively. The highest ranked Dutch university is Leiden University (at 67th). 



The Times Higher Education ranking is drawn up using 13 different performance indicators. These include education, research, knowledge transfer and international orientation.
