Sinds september 2021 ben ik bezig met mijn promotieonderzoek naar burgerschapscompetenties van jongeren in het voortgezet onderwijs. Ik ben betrokken bij de Nederlandse deelname aan de International Civic and Citizenship Education Study (ICCS) 2022 - een grootschalig onderzoek dat burgerschapsonderwijs en burgerschapscompetenties van leerlingen in de tweede klas van het voortgezet onderwijs in kaart brengt. Deze studie zal ook het uitgangspunt van mijn proefschrift zijn. Meer informatie over deze studie is te vinden op de website: https://www.iccsnederland.nl/. Naast de invloed van school op burgerschapscompetenties, richt ik mij in mijn onderzoek ook op de rol van ouders en vrienden.
