  • Associate Professor Developmental Psychopathology

I received my Clinical Psychology MA (2003) and my Clinical Developmental Psychology PhD (2010) from Leiden University. During my appointment at the UvA, I also trained as cognitive-behavioral therapist (VGCt) and worked in the clinical practice with youth and families. Throughout the years I combined research work, management, clinical work, and teaching at the university and in the postdoctoral courses for therapists. For my work on bridging the gap between research and clinical practice I received a Wim Truijsburg award from the Dutch Association for Psychotherapy (2015). I am in possesion of Basic and Senior Teaching Qualifications (BKO, SKO), Strategic Leadership for Managers, and Learning Path Valorisation and Impact certificats.

  • Research

I study how and for whom interventions for youth mental health problems work. In doing so, I bridge the gap between research questions emerging from the clinical practice, and within-subject research methods to study personalized treatment effects and personalized treatment mechanisms. My interests lay in the area of single-case experimental designs, both with regard to the development and implementation of these methods to study youth treatment effects as well as for education of researchers and clinicians in using these methods.
